Coal tar pitch is a solid or semi-solid substance obtained by the distillation and purification of coal tar, appearing in a black, glossy state. In industry, coal tar pitch is primarily used in the manufacturing of aluminum, electrodes, refractory materials, and carbon products, with widespread applications in metallurgy, building materials, and road construction.

Petroleum coke is a carbon material obtained during the petroleum refining process, appearing as a black or dark gray solid with a hard, microporous structure. It possesses high calorific value, high carbon content, and low volatility, making it widely used in industries such as electrodes, metallurgy, and casting. It is particularly important as a fuel and carbon source in aluminum smelting and electric arc steel production. Additionally, high-quality needle coke is used in the production of graphite electrodes and battery anode materials.
