Methanol, also known as wood alcohol or methyl alcohol, is a colorless liquid with a slight odor, with the chemical formula CH₃OH. As a fundamental chemical raw material and a new energy source, methanol is widely used in the chemical, energy, and environmental protection fields. It is used to produce various chemicals, including formaldehyde, acetic acid, and methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE), and can also be used directly as a fuel or fuel additive, playing an increasingly important role in clean energy and fuel cell applications.
